Prickly heat usually appears on the back, chest, armpits, groins and waistline. Babies and overweight persons are more prone to suffer from prickly heat. This skin irritation appears especially in humid and hot conditions. The common symptoms of prickly heat are: prickling or stinging sensation, tiny itchy rashes or bumps and mild inflammation in the affected parts of the body. The main causes that determine the apparition of prickly heat are: a sedentary life, bacterial infection, overweight, excessive sweating and the undeveloped swat glands (this in case of the babies and children). Use oatmeal for your bathes twice a day. The oatmeal has the property to calm down the itch. Drinking plenty of liquids during the hot periods of the year is very helpful to avoid pricy heat. During the hot and humid weather it is recommended to keep your skin dry and to avoid harsh soaps. Washing your skin with lukewarm water and soft gauze are also of a great help. After the shin has cooled you can pat it with a mixture prepared from a part alcohols and three parts water. Before preparing the mixture boil the water and let it cool. Mix a teaspoon baking soda with a cup of water. Wet a compress in this mixture and apply it on the affected areas. Repeat this treatment several times a day to get relief from prickly heat. Keep the compress about ten minutes. Another efficient treatment consists in one teaspoon of sandalwood powder, a teaspoon of coriander powder, a teaspoon of nagarmusta powder and cold rose water. Mix all these ingredients until you obtain a fine paste. Apply this paste on the affected areas. Grind bark of papal tree until you obtain a fine powder. Mix it with brick powder and apply the mixture on your body. These powders will keep your skin dry and will prevent prickly heat apparition. You can also dust sandalwood powder on the affected areas to obtain an immediate relief. Grind some jambul seeds and add some water until you prepare a paste. This paste can be applied all over the body. The thin paste obtained from Fuller's earth dissolved in water can also offer a great and immediate relief. Smear the paste over the affected parts of the body and let it dry. Then you can remove the paste rinsing with plenty of water. Take some green henna ground and pour some water over. Apply this remedy over the itching areas. The same benefit effects you can get if you grind some neem lives and add some water to obtain a thin paste. Cover the affected areas with this paste and then wash it after it has got dry. Cut a potato into slices and then rub the slices on the itching areas. You can also grate some fresh ginger and then boil it in water. Apply the liquid on the irritated areas using a sponge.
